Keeping an easily bored ill person entertained

Over the past two weeks I have left the house three times for no longer than half an hour each time.  I am easily bored and have really struggled to keep myself entertained.  Thankfully I've discovered the joys of compiling ETSY treasuries, here are a couple of examples of what I've been up to...

Oh The Delicious Horror!

Yes I know, they're awful.  But if you have followed this blog for any length of time you will know that I have a high, high, high tolerance of awful kitsch.  (I love them.)  We went to the car boot sale today for the first time in months and I came home with a pile o'crap including these fabulous angel decorations.

Summer car boot sales are the best, here's hoping the weather holds for my holiday...

Following Christmas Eve at my folks place, we came home for Christmas Day, just the two of us.  MozzyMr did sterling work on the Christmas dinner in a rather fetching apron.

I got to do the fun bit and dressed the table using Plan B placemats:

my new (but already a firm Christmas favourite) robin cruet set was used:

and then there were the Christmas prizes, some crafted (by very talented sister-in-law Colette Moscrop):

some purdy Cath Kidston treats, a flask for hot soup on the allotment (bliss!):

Alternative Advent Calendar #8

So these are my finds from last Sunday's car boot sale, one fantastically kitsch Santa plate £2 and a full set of cookie cutters for making festive type pies (the good sort of festive pies not the McDonalds festive pie) £1 bargain!  Now Friday night is the office Christmas party, there is talk going around the office that things should wrap up around 6am (gulp).  I thought as part of my recovery plan on Saturday I would make mini apple pies (MozzyMr doesn't like mince pies, sigh) and mini jam pasties for Sam's business partner who asks for them on a regular basis (along with banana bread) with the perfect set of pasty/cookie cutters!

Palace of Kitsch part II

The rainy days are keeping me indoors during the evenings so I thought I would continue the tour of the Palace of Kitsch:

No palace of kitsch can be without a green lady.

This is a taster of the pet owners homage to their pets art collection.  As you can see this is a fine example of how wrong people can get it.  Human eyes?  Back leg that seems to turn into a tail?  Green stripes resembling pus?  Oui, merci!

Snow globes you say?  Damn straight I say!  The Estonia snow globe was a wedding present, little did the givers of this gift know how right they were getting it when they bought us this, I doff my hat to them.

That's all for now, we have a visit from the landlord on Saturday I should probably do some tidying and dusting.  Ta ra for now.

The Palace of Kitsch

There are many reasons MozzyMr and I were lucky to find one another, one of these reasons is a mutual love of kitsch.  A taste in Kitsch we have been told is nudging the line of taste, kitsch that few of our friends understand (one day I'll take a photo of our collection of dog pictures that owners have painted, they're awful and great), but a kitsch that I love because even if we turn up at a car boot sale late it's safe to say no one else would have purchased the items we like.

My most favourite money box, whenever we move house this is seriously over wrapped and over protected.  I know I'm the only one to love this, but love it I do and it never fails to make me smile.

Ahhh golden Bambi.  Not only an object d'art, but a pen holder and thermometer combined hazaar!

So I have the money box and MozzyMr has his resin collection.  I didn't like these for quite a while but having lived with them for a while I see they have a taxidermy quality that I quite like.

Fake bumble bee paperweight.  I found this at a car boot sale, I was deciding whether to get it for MozzyMr as a Christmas present, as I was stood there with it in my hand, Mozzy came along took it out of my hand and bought it.  If only I had been quicker off the mark he could have opened it on Christmas day and I would be basking in the light of gratitude having purchased him his all time favourite bee related item (he likes bees a lot).

My Lovely Menagerie

Let me tell you about my weekend.  It started with a half day's holiday on Friday, where I met Stoat and because I needed to shop for my niece's birthday present we encountered a 7ft Hagrid:

Then on Saturday we embarked on my low key, and very awesome hen do, where in Make Art I made a lovely horse:

Sadly I don't have a picture of Anne's lovely flip flop, but together we made quite the lovely menagerie.  There was another hen do at Make Art, they were dressed as superheroes, I feel I got a glimpse through the looking glass that night.  After much gin drinking and discussion about the Queen's tights the night ended.  And today I have gin head, I haven't been able to do much, just nice gentle activities like hand sewing banners for the Bar and Cake Table (note capital letters):

Still a way to go before they're finished but the hair of the dog wine is helping.
