We've been growing some closed cup mushrooms this time rather than the posh ones we were growing a while ago. When they're growing they look just like those pixie/fairy house illustrations you see in children's books. Whilst I have a slight issue with the mouldy, fungusey nature of the mushrooms they do look super cute and taste amazing. The kit was a bargain £3.99 at Aldi and we've had absolutely tons of mushrooms from the kit so far and they don't look like they're going to stop any time soon either.

Alternative Advent Calendar #17
Well look what my mum made for me! She dropped it off when I was at work, which when arrived home caused some confusion seeing it hung up I thought I'd got the wrong house and had to take a look around me to check I wasn't about to attempt a break in to one of the neighbours houses.
So here I am, day one of my holiday and the social whirlwind that is this week is about to kick off. This afternoon: DVDs and cider with my brother, tomorrow: drinks with ex-Habitat colleague Bekah, Monday: lunch with Ruthie, Tuesday: lunch and late night shopping with Mum, Wednesday: lunch with ex-International Office colleague followed by dinner with Stoat, Thursday: lunch and lego with friend from work, then Friday: lunch with a friend followed by Birthday drinks for lovely Birthday girl CJ. Can't wait to see each and everyone of ya.

Alternative Advent Calendar #16
The first presents are under the tree, I began mission present wrapping last night. I got a little bored after an hour, plus This is England 88 came on and that just deserves all of your attention.
It has been a long ol' week but I've finally made it, my holiday begins here, 18 days to relax, meet friends, read books, do some craft, make some mince pies, and enjoy Christmas!

Holiday projects
As much as I truly loved crafting things for our wedding come the end I dreamt of projects that were totally wedding free. So here is the beginning of project one of two that I am working on, a yo-yo blanket inspired endeavour (thinking placemats and coasters?) and the beauty of this project is that I can transport it with me whether I choose to roam.
The fabric as ever is from Fabricworm.

Holiday Postcards
This week we have mostly been enjoying beaches with little people:
Weird rain showers on a hot sunny beach:
And flowers, lots and lots of flowers:
I have also been playing around with new headers for my blog with thanks to A Thrifty Mrs for the tutorial, not sure this is the one I will settle for but at least it's no longer a blogger standard template. Watch this space...
