A busy weekend on the allotment with our extra quarter plot to clear and raised beds to build. The extra quarter is COVERED in grass and weeds, the soil is sodden and so full of clay we could build pots with it. It was hard going but we got about a third of it dug over.
What we did:
- Cleared the leaf litter from under the apple tree and composted it
- Dug over the sodden soil to get the grass and weeds out and get some air back in the soil
- Sowed broad beans in the polytunnel plot ready for the spring
- Built a raised bed
- Dug up some leeks and swedes for making winter soup
That's hard work! But it sounds lovely :) xx
